Cathal Hoare
Cathal Hoare is a PhD candidate at the Computer Science Department, National University College Ireland, Cork. He is examining how the use of information visualization and collaborative tools can be used to improve a users information seeking experience – especially when seeking information in support of a long term information need.
Cathal Hoare graduated National University of Ireland, Cork with a BSc in Computer Science in 1998. He worked in industry – primarily in mobile telecommunications and communication quality of service software development. This work revolved around user reporting interface development. On returning to college to pursue his PhD, Cathal continued his interest in developing reporting interfaces through a joint project with a local company that develops web statistics monitoring software.
Cathal’s PhD is examining how the use of information visualization and collaborative tools can be used to improve a users information seeking experience – especially when seeking information in support of a long term information need.
