Toni Kennedy

Toni is a Library Manager with 25 years experience in all aspects of library work and management, in many types of libraries. She is currently the first Manager, Library Services for the Department of Corrective Services in New South Wales. This newly created position is in charge of over 45 inmate and staff libraries within the department. During her time in this position she has centralized the library services, designed the intranet and internet web pages and introduced new systems and online services for the libraries. She was the first librarian and archivist at Lady Davidson Private Hospital, having designed and organised the library service and archives there, including the introduction of computerized information systems and the design of the policies and procedures, the physical layout of the current library facility and the first Internet homepage for the hospital as well as the Mayne Health Library Service Intranet site. She also managed the computer network at Lady Davidson Hospital and provided information technology education and support to the staff there. Before working with the NSW Department of Corrections she coordinated provision of library service to users at 20 hospitals in the Mayne Health group in New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria and previous to that managed the centralized acquisitions and serials unit for the Catholic College of Education Libraries. She is experienced as a team leader, facilitator and convener, both within the organization and the Australian library profession and has been active in publishing articles and presenting conference papers and seminars in the areas of library and information science.
